Bola Ahmed Tinubu Inaugurates New Housing Minister “Muttaqha Darma”

Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday swore in Dr Muttaqha Rabe Darma from Katsina State as Minister of Housing and Urban Development after his confirmation by the Senate. He replaced Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who recently resigned.

At a brief ceremony at the State House, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated Dr Muttaqha Rabe Darma on his appointment, describing the moment as a “very challenging time of national development.”

The President praised Darma’s extensive experience and background, noting that his expertise makes him well-suited for the role. He urged him to remain ready to serve in any capacity required, emphasizing the need for competent leadership.

Dr Darma is an accomplished scholar, administrator, and development expert. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Atlantic International University.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bayero University Kano and a Master’s in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Benin.

A member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Management, Darma previously served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund from 2008 to 2012. He has also held key roles in Katsina State, including Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, as well as Commissioner for Rural and Social Development.

He has also contributed to academia as a lecturer at Bayero University, Kano.

He is widely published in the areas of governance and development.

Before this appointment, he was the President of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Human Development Centre in Katsina.
