President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, said he was not looking back over the state of the economy he inherited, noting that since former President Muhammadu Buhari was his partner, he (Tinubu) took over from himself.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the remarks while hosting the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a group established to promote his administration’s policies and reforms nationwide.
He said he had listened to concerns about the economy, adding that he did not need to look back because, in his view, he “took over from himself,” describing the late Muhammadu Buhari as a partner.
Tinubu urged supporters to acknowledge challenges, correct them, and move forward, noting that the journey of governance would not be easy. He assured them of his commitment, saying they would not regret supporting him and promising not to abandon them.
He added that the goal of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors is to inspire confidence among Nigerians by showcasing development efforts, including infrastructure and economic growth, even to those who may be sceptical.
According to him, the group represents a united front determined to help the nation overcome poverty, ignorance, and hopelessness.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu said his political journey to power was challenging, noting that both the party primaries and the general election were tough.
Addressing opposition parties, the President urged them to respect democratic principles and abide by judicial decisions. He dismissed what he described as attempts to gang up against him, particularly by the African Democratic Congress, insisting that he cannot be intimidated and will not back down.
Speaking in Abuja while hosting the Renewed Hope Ambassadors—a group created to promote his administration’s policies nationwide—Tinubu said he remains focused on moving the country forward rather than dwelling on past economic conditions. He reiterated his earlier stance that succeeding Muhammadu Buhari, whom he described as a partner, was akin to “taking over from himself.”
Tinubu encouraged his supporters to stay committed despite challenges, assuring them that their efforts would not be in vain. He emphasized that governance is a difficult journey but pledged not to abandon those who believe in his leadership.
He added that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors represent a collective vision to inspire Nigerians and help the country overcome poverty, ignorance, and hopelessness, stressing that he remains determined to deliver on his promises despite opposition pressure.
