Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has asserted that President Bola Tinubu will not abandon Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in favor of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State. Fayose made this statement during an interview on Arise Television, addressing the power struggle between Fubara and Wike.
Fayose emphasized Wike’s political significance to President Tinubu, arguing that the President has little reason to forsake the former Rivers governor. He pointed out Wike’s performance as FCT minister and his contributions to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing that Wike’s efforts have facilitated electoral victories for the APC in local government elections.
Commenting on Fubara’s attempts to seek the President’s intervention, Fayose described this move as a sign of political arrogance, suggesting that humility and a willingness to seek peace could lead to better outcomes for Fubara.
Fayose also addressed internal issues within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that the party’s difficulties are self-inflicted and not the result of external influence. He criticized the PDP for its internal divisions, asserting that the party is experiencing a crisis of its own making.
Overall, Fayose reiterated his belief that Wike’s loyalty and contributions make him a valuable ally for the President, making any sacrifice for Fubara unlikely.
