Suspected political thugs on Friday night disrupted a live interview being broadcast by Arise News from a hotel in Rivers State.

The television station disclosed the incident in a statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday.

According to Arise News, the attackers stormed Londa Hotel in Orazi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, while a live interview was ongoing with a former Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa.

Dr. Nwibubasa was discussing the political crisis in Rivers State, particularly the rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, when the disruption occurred.

Eyewitnesses said the armed assailants invaded several rooms in the hotel at about 9:15 p.m., reportedly searching for the former commissioner and the Arise News cameraman.
