The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight individuals for breach of public peace, unlawful assembly, obstruction of traffic, and assault on police officers following disturbances in Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
The group, identified as agitating under the banner of the “Democratic Republic of the Yoruba,” unlawfully barricaded roads, set bonfires, and disrupted traffic on Christmas Day at Temidire Junction and Under-Bridge. Police dispatched to the scene successfully dispersed the group and made the arrests.
The suspects include:
- Adewale Sosanya, 48
- Opeyemi Oladotun, 31
- Zara Gabriel, 22
- Ajoke Gabriel, 19
- Adewale Adebomojo, 48
- Yusuf Tanimowo, 40
- Olurotimi Ademola, 52
- Toyin Gabriel, 40
Exhibits recovered from the suspects included a Toyota Dyna vehicle used for transport, two broadcast speakers, a carton of flags, shirts with agitation inscriptions, and banners featuring their manifesto.
The police stated that the suspects would be charged in court once the investigation is complete. They reassured residents of their commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that any assault on police officers will be met with decisive action.
