All 130 schoolchildren abducted from St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Niger State, have been successfully rescued.
The release was confirmed on Sunday by presidential spokesperson, Sunday Dare, who disclosed the development via his official X account. He assured that none of the pupils remain in the custody of their abductors.
“Another 130 abducted Niger State pupils released, none left in captivity,” Dare stated.
Images shared alongside the announcement showed the children appearing calm and cheerful after regaining their freedom.
The successful rescue has eased fears among parents and residents, as security agencies continue efforts to tackle the recurring challenge of school abductions in the country.
