President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the safe return of 24 schoolgirls who were abducted by terrorists from a school in Maga, Kebbi State, on November 17. Their release follows the recent rescue efforts amid a troubling rise in similar kidnappings across Nigeria.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu expressed relief at the girls’ return. He acknowledged the challenges posed by copycat kidnappings currently affecting regions like Eruku in Kwara State and Papiri in Niger State.
He commended security agencies for their efforts, urging them to intensify operations to free any remaining victims still held captive. “My government will provide all necessary resources to secure vulnerable areas and prevent further incidents,” he stated.
The Federal Government remains committed to ensuring the safety of students and vulnerable communities, promising continued support for security operations in affected regions.
