President Bola Tinubu has mandated a comprehensive security operation in the forests of Kwara State in response to recent kidnappings and terrorist incidents. The directive was announced by Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, who emphasized the need for enhanced air surveillance by the Nigerian Air Force.
The President’s order comes after a series of violent attacks, including the recent kidnapping of at least 10 residents in Isapa, as well as the abduction and subsequent rescue of 38 churchgoers in Eruku. The Isapa attack is the latest in a spate of assaults on communities within the Ekiti Local Government Area, raising concerns about safety and security in the region.
According to reports, armed bandits stormed the Isapa community, firing indiscriminately and causing residents to flee. Among those abducted were a pregnant woman and two nursing mothers, highlighting the precarious situation for families in the area.
In light of the escalating violence, communities have been encouraged to report any suspicious activities to assist security forces. This proactive engagement aims to support efforts in securing the region and mitigating further threats.
The situation underscores the ongoing challenges related to security in Nigeria, prompting calls from various stakeholders for immediate action to restore safety and stability.
