The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially disavowed a pamphlet circulating on social media that purportedly advises corps members to pay ransom if kidnapped. The NYSC described the document as fake and inconsistent with its security policies.

In a statement released on November 20, 2025, the NYSC Management clarified that a similar document had been presented by a consultant in 2021 but was never approved or adopted. They emphasized that the circulating pamphlet is not an official NYSC publication and should be disregarded completely.

The NYSC’s statement included the following points:

  • The document advising ransom payment does not reflect NYSC’s policies concerning the security and well-being of corps members.
  • The management remains committed to the safety of its staff and corps members and collaborates closely with security agencies to enhance protection.

The organization reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the lives of those serving and urged stakeholders to be cautious about misinformation that could pose risks.

The NYSC concluded its statement with, “Nigeria is ours; Nigeria we serve,” reinforcing its commitment to the nation and its youth.
