The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend its national convention scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Presiding Judge Peter Lifu stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is restrained from supervising or recognizing any convention results unless former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, is allowed to contest.

The court noted that Lamido was unjustly denied the chance to obtain a nomination form for the National Chairmanship position, violating the party’s Constitution and Regulations.

Justice Lifu emphasized that the PDP must provide its members with opportunities to pursue their aspirations and subsequently ordered a hold on the convention to enable Lamido to secure a nomination form, rally support, and conduct his campaign.
