Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition will consistently prioritize the needs of Nigerians in its decision-making. He reiterated his support for using the ADC as the coalition’s platform for the upcoming 2027 general elections to contest President Bola Tinubu. Obi noted that this choice was made after careful consideration of Nigeria’s current challenges and the urgent need for fresh leadership.
In a post on his X handle, he expressed the coalition’s commitment to collaborating for the forthcoming elections, aiming to provide Nigeria with capable and compassionate leadership. Obi stressed the importance of unity among opposition parties, stating that meaningful change cannot occur in isolation. The coalition, which includes prominent political figures, officially introduced the ADC as its platform at a recent event in Abuja, where David Mark was appointed as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
