President Bola Tinubu has expressed openness to welcoming Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite Wike not currently being a member. Tinubu made this declaration during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 and other infrastructure projects in Katampe District.
The president noted that Wike’s involvement could benefit the APC, stating, “The day he changes his mind and registers with the Progressives, we will welcome him because we will enjoy him singing ‘as e dey pain them, e dey sweet us.’”
While discussing the new projects, Tinubu highlighted the importance of infrastructure in national development, asserting that the completed roads will ease traffic congestion and stimulate growth in surrounding areas. He emphasized that quality infrastructure is essential for economic opportunity and competitiveness.
In response, Minister Wike thanked Tinubu for his support in advancing the FCT’s infrastructure, claiming that opposition attempts to form a coalition against the president are “dead on arrival.” He emphasized the positive reception from residents, stating, “Those who appreciate it, who are happy, you can see how elated they are.”
Wike promised ongoing development efforts, indicating that future projects would further enhance the region’s infrastructure.
