Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to punish anybody who threatens the country’s sovereignty.

Speaking on security, the president made the statement on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja while hosting leaders of the reputable Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organisation, Afenifere.

In his words ; “I am irrevocably committed to the unity of Nigeria and constitutional democracy. Constitutional democracy is reflected greatly here since we assumed office. What we face now is the challenge of terrorism. Security of life and property is very necessary for development. I can tell you we are achieving success. We have degraded terrorism to a level that they cannot threaten the sovereignty of Nigeria any longer.

“Banditry and kidnapping will be defeated. And there is no payment of ransom whatsoever. We are taking the battle to them. We are getting results more rapidly than before. We are working hard on intelligence gathering. Those who think they can threaten the sovereignty of Nigeria will have themselves to blame. They have a price to pay. And we are not going to relent,” the president affirmed.

According to President Tinubu, his administration is unwavering in its efforts to provide the nation with all-encompassing economic security while resolving fundamental issues and establishing a just and equitable framework that would enable all Nigerians to prosper.

The president stated that his administration is reorganising Nigeria’s finances and aiming to increase citizens’ purchasing power and spread prosperity over time by instituting a credit system where the lack of cash is not a barrier to a significantly higher standard of living for all citizens. This was stated in a statement released by the president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Olu Falae, had earlier in his speech praised the president for his brave choices and the restoration of Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge, among other important ongoing projects.

He emphasised the significance of a constitutional revision to give the states more authority while appealing with the president to maintain his fight for justice and equity for all Nigerians.
