Lagos authorities have deployed 5,000 police officers to enhance security during the festive season. According to spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, this deployment aims to manage traffic and ensure public safety amid the holiday rush.
The police presence will include conventional officers, tactical units, and intelligence operatives, focusing on traffic-prone areas and waterways to prevent criminal activities. Special Squads will patrol the state to deter breaches of security.
In preparation, police commanders have been instructed to carry out increased patrols and maintain visibility. Adebisi emphasized the professionalism of officers during their duties.
Additionally, the police have held strategic meetings with security partners to devise measures for improving public safety, particularly in busy areas like places of worship, markets, and recreational centers.
Police Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh reassured residents of their commitment to safeguarding lives and properties throughout the festive period and beyond.
