Wike Denies Rift with Military Amid Abuja Land Dispute

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has dismissed rumors of a conflict with the military following a recent disagreement with a naval officer over disputed land in Abuja. Addressing journalists, Wike stated that the FCT Administration will uphold land use regulations and not be intimidated by individuals, regardless of their status.

Wike emphasized that his actions are guided by law, asserting the importance of maintaining a lawful society where no one is above the rules. He clarified that he has respect for the military and has previously engaged with military leaders to resolve land ownership issues respectfully and institutionally.

He criticized media reports that misconstrue his comments as confrontational towards security agencies and urged journalists to adhere to responsible reporting. The minister reaffirmed his commitment to restoring order in the nation’s capital, pledging to take action against illegal developments and land grabbing, ensuring that Abuja reflects a disciplined and lawful image.”
