Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has declared that all governors in Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone are now supporting President Bola Tinubu, citing ongoing federal infrastructure projects and renewed political cooperation in the region.

Speaking in an interview for an upcoming State House documentary commemorating Tinubu’s second year in office, Umahi urged notable figures like former Anambra Governor Peter Obi to align with the current administration for the collective good of the South-East.

“All the South-East governors, irrespective of political parties, are working with President Tinubu,” Umahi said, highlighting major federal projects in Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, and Abia states. “We are even planning a summit to bring all South-East leaders together to formally endorse the President for 2027.”

The Minister listed key projects underway, including the Second Niger Bridge, Port Harcourt–Enugu highway, and Enugu–Onitsha road. He also revealed that Section 1 of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, from Ahmadu Bello Way to Eleko Junction is nearly 80% complete and will be tolled by December.

“Leadership is about the people. If someone else is already doing what you would have done, support him. I call on my brother, Peter Obi, to join us,” Umahi said.

He added that Tinubu is reviving long-dormant infrastructure ideas like the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway and the Trans-Saharan Trade Route, describing them as “transformative investments” set to unlock national and regional economic potential.

“These legacy projects are not just roads, they are catalysts for growth, fitted with solar lighting, CCTV, and designed for sustainability,” Umahi stated.
