STORY:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly issued a firm ultimatum to former Rivers State Governor and political heavyweight, Nyesom Wike, warning that failure to fully comply with the terms of the recently brokered peace accord could result in his removal from office.
Sources describe the matter as extremely serious, explaining Wike’s unusual silence and calm since the President’s declaration. The directive reportedly requires Wike to publicly instruct all his loyalists to recognize Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara as the legitimate leader of the APC and the overall political authority in Rivers State.
In addition, Wike is expected to ensure that members of the Rivers State House of Assembly align with and comply with Governor Fubara’s directives, as outlined in the agreement — a mandate said to come directly from the President, popularly known as “City Boy.”
Meanwhile, Governor Fubara has been fulfilling his side of the agreement, honoring commitments even before the formal declaration, signaling his readiness to restore stability and effective governance in the state.
The unfolding developments mark a critical turning point in Rivers State politics, with national leadership now directly enforcing peace and political realignment.
The one million dollar question observers are asking is, will Wike truly forgive and give peace a chance? We are keenly watching.
