The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reassured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is establishing a robust foundation for sustainable growth and shared prosperity. This announcement came during a courtesy visit from members of the Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu (GAT) 2027, as noted in a statement released by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim.
Idris emphasized that the administration has made bold and often challenging decisions to place Nigeria on a more sustainable path, with early signs of recovery in key economic sectors. He stated that actions taken aim to stabilize the economy and restore public confidence.
He highlighted the importance of protecting Nigeria’s improving economic outlook through unity, responsible communication, and collective support for national policies. Idris cautioned that negative narratives about the country could undermine investor confidence and hinder development, urging that a positive portrayal of Nigeria is necessary to attract investments.
The minister praised the GAT 2027 group for its civic engagement and commitment to sharing accurate public information, welcoming their proposal for collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in areas such as public education and youth engagement.
Effective communication was described as critical for national stability and development. Idris reaffirmed the president’s commitment to ensuring that Nigeria works for all citizens, regardless of background. He assured the delegation that the ministry would continue partnering with credible groups to disseminate accurate information widely.
In response, GAT 2027 National Coordinator, Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele, noted that the group came to brief the minister and show support for his mandate of informing and clarifying government policies to the public. He stated their commitment to backing President Tinubu’s policies by countering misleading narratives, particularly during election periods, and engaging with the youth.
