In a significant political move, President Bola Tinubu has intervened to halt the sealing of properties in Abuja over unpaid ground rent, a decision praised by Dele Momodu, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

On May 26, the Federal Capital Territory Authority, led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, sealed several business premises, including banks and the PDP national secretariat, due to billions of Naira in unpaid ground rents. The action sparked public outrage, prompting Tinubu to temporarily suspend enforcement.

In an Instagram statement, Momodu commended Tinubu for taking decisive action, describing it as a necessary check on Wike’s authority. He stressed that while government must uphold obligations, it should avoid vindictive actions.

Momodu also called on Tinubu to manage Wike’s political activities in Rivers State, where tensions have escalated between Wike and Governor Sim Fubara. He highlighted the need for strong leadership to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians.
