President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe, the Presidency has confirmed. The development was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the President will continue his end-of-year break in Europe before proceeding on an official visit to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Tinubu was invited by the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026).
The summit, scheduled to hold in early January, is a week-long annual event that brings together global leaders from government, business, and civil society to discuss pathways for sustainable development. It serves as a platform for advancing solutions across energy, climate action, technology, and economic growth.
ADSW 2026 will be held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” focusing on linking ambition with action through innovation, finance, and human capital to drive global progress.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit in Abu Dhabi.
