President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Accra, Ghana, to attend the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s new President on January 7, 2025.
President Tinubu departed Nigeria from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos and was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra by Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debra. Tinubu, who also serves as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, is joining other African leaders to witness the swearing-in of Mahama and his Vice President-elect, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
The invitation to Tinubu highlights the cordial relationship between the two leaders and the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana. Accompanying the Nigerian president are notable officials, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
This visit further strengthens regional cooperation and marks a new chapter in the continued partnership between the neighboring countries.
