President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially appointed Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). This appointment will take effect on March 7, 2025, the same day that the current AGF, Oluwatoyin Madehin, will retire.

Ogunjimi, aged 57, was chosen following a thorough and competitive selection process conducted by a committee comprised of Directors of Accounts from the Federal Civil Service. The selection involved multiple stages, including a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews, demonstrating President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting transparency and excellence in key public service roles.

He graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and later earned a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. Ogunjimi is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu urged Ogunjimi to carry out his responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the service of Nigeria.
