Nigeria’s Super Eagles have advanced to the African World Cup qualifying playoffs final after a decisive 4-1 win against Gabon in a thrilling semi-final match held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

The match began cautiously, with neither team able to score in the first half. However, the second half sparked to life with Akor Adam scoring the first goal for Nigeria in the 78th minute. Gabon quickly equalized in the 89th minute through Mario Lemina, forcing the match into extra time.

In extra time, Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead in the 98th minute, followed by Victor Osimhen, who scored two additional goals in the 102nd and 110th minutes, securing the victory for Nigeria.

This success positions Nigeria within striking distance of their World Cup aspirations, as they prepare to face the winner of the semi-final between Cameroon and DR Congo on Sunday.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the team’s performance, emphasizing their courage and unity. He expressed his belief that this victory invigorates national pride and reflects Nigeria’s rich talent pool.
