The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially disowned former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, stating that he is neither a member of the party nor authorized to represent it. This announcement was made by Inuwa Idris, the SDP Zonal Secretary for the North-West Zone, during a press briefing in Kaduna.
Idris highlighted that El-Rufai has been appearing in various forums, including policy dialogues and stakeholder meetings, claiming to speak on behalf of the SDP. He emphasized that El-Rufai’s actions were undertaken without the consent or approval of the party’s national leadership, including Acting National Chairman Dr. Sadiq Umar.
“Let this be made unequivocally clear: Malam El-Rufai is not authorized to represent the interests of the SDP,” Idris declared, reaffirming the party’s leadership and warning the public to disregard any statements made by El-Rufai under the SDP banner.
Idris also announced a vote of no confidence in El-Rufai and called for the immediate suspension of Dr. Umar Ardo, who is accused of promoting a new political party while still associated with the SDP. He warned that any further impersonation would lead to serious consequences, including the formation of a special committee to investigate these matters.
This public disavowal underscores the SDP’s commitment to maintaining a transparent communication system and delegating authority appropriately within its ranks.
