The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has summoned the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda, and the Director of Development Control, Galadima Muktar, to address allegations of building code violations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The officials are expected to explain why construction on a controversial property in the Gusape Cadastral Zone has been allowed to continue despite claims that it violates FCT planning regulations. The summons follows a petition by a concerned citizen, Samuel Ajayi, who warned that the development could undermine the city’s master plan.

Committee Chairman Mike Etaba emphasized that while the claims remain allegations until proven, all public officers must be held accountable. “Every Nigerian’s voice must be heard. We will ensure fair hearing for all parties,” he stated.

In a related development, the committee has also summoned the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over an abandoned shoreline protection and jetty construction project in Delta State. The contract, awarded to Orbit Marine and Energy Services Ltd, has reportedly been left incomplete, prompting legal action from Lynpat Solicitors.

Chairman Etaba warned that if the NDDC boss fails to appear, further actions will be taken against the commission.
