The Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued a 60-year-old kidnap victim, Isiaku Saidu, in Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government Area. The operation was part of a significant crackdown on criminal activities in the state, initiated by Commissioner of Police Femi Haruna.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade, the rescue occurred after a kidnapping attempt had taken place on January 11, 2026. Armed assailants invaded the area and abducted Saidu. Following a tip-off, police conducted aggressive patrols and bush-combing operations that led to the discovery of the kidnappers’ hideout.

During the operation, a gunfight ensued, resulting in one suspect being neutralized, while another was apprehended and is now cooperating with the investigation. Other suspects managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

In a separate incident in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area, police also rescued another kidnapped victim, Hussinat Abubakar, without any ransom being paid. Three suspects were arrested in connection with this crime: Kari Ibrahim (22), Dure Jimoh (25), and Abubakar Sidi (55). The suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement, and investigations are ongoing to capture the remaining members of the criminal syndicate.

The police requested the public to report anyone with bullet wounds to the nearest station, as these could likely be related to the criminal activities in the area. Both rescued victims are receiving medical treatment, and the arrested individuals will face legal action upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens while working to prevent ransom payments that often encourage further criminal activities.
