Hon. Edward Masha Percy, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, has asserted that the party remains resilient despite recent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during a press briefing, Masha said the PDP continues to hold all three senatorial seats in the state and has made substantial progress over the last six months through stakeholder consultations, unity efforts, and policy alternatives.
He revealed that although the party faced setbacks—such as an attempted rigging of the 2024 local government elections and defections by some elected members—it has remained focused and committed to its mission.
Masha accused Governor Uba Sani’s APC administration of worsening living conditions in the state through failed security policies, corruption, and wasteful spending on unexecuted projects. He cited growing insecurity, especially in local government areas like Kajuru, Birnin Gwari, and Zangon Kataf, as evidence of government failure.
He also praised PDP legislators for providing grassroots solutions, including healthcare, water, education, and agricultural support, contrasting them with what he described as APC’s neglect and inefficiency.
The party is now pushing to unseat the current 23 local government chairmen and 255 councillors through legal means, aiming to restore democratic governance. Masha vowed that the PDP would “recover the state in 2027” and resist any future rigging attempts.
