The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of the screening of aspirants for its 2025 Elective National Convention, which was set to take place on October 28. This decision, attributed to unforeseen circumstances, has raised concerns among party members and observers regarding potential internal challenges that could affect the party’s preparations.

In a statement released by Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) and Governor of Adamawa State, it was emphasized that a new date for the screening would be announced shortly. The statement expressed regret over the postponement and called for understanding among the aspirants and party members as the committee works to resolve the issues causing the delay.

Fintiri assured party members that the NCOC remains committed to ensuring a transparent and credible process leading up to the convention. “The NCOC is dedicated to delivering a credible, hitch-free 2025 Elective National Convention on November 15-16 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital,” he stated.

The convention is crucial for the PDP as it aims to reorganize its national leadership in preparation for the upcoming general elections. This event is expected to attract prominent party leaders, governors, and key stakeholders from across Nigeria, highlighting the party’s strategic plans for the political landscape ahead.
