The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong rebuke of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following what it termed an unprovoked attack, asserting that the PDP is the only party capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 election. In a statement on Tuesday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, emphasized that despite some recent defections, the true strength of the party lies in the unwavering support of Nigerians.

The PDP responded to comments made by Bolaji Abdullahi, the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, describing them as reckless and indicative of his ties to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The party expressed disappointment that Abdullahi chose to attack the PDP rather than address pressing national issues, suggesting that he is unhappy with the PDP’s growing momentum against the APC in the lead-up to the election.

The statement reiterated the PDP’s position as the leading opposition party, enjoying widespread respect and loyalty from the majority of Nigerians. It highlighted the party’s track record and its commitment to fostering constructive national discourse while challenging the APC on critical issues.

The PDP also asserted that it has a number of presidential candidates with proven records who are capable of defeating President Tinubu. The party remains open to collaboration with other like-minded citizens and groups in its collective goal to unseat the APC and establish a government focused on the needs of the people.

In conclusion, the PDP remains confident in its support base, asserting that it is equipped to lead the charge against the APC in the 2027 elections.
