The ongoing litigation challenging the planned National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been adjourned once again by Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan. The hearing was postponed amid heightened security measures, with journalists barred from attending the proceedings.

Justice Akintola rescheduled the hearing of the Motion on Notice filed by claimant Folahan Malomo Adelabi against the PDP and its Acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, to Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Previously, the court had granted an ex-parte motion allowing the PDP to proceed with its National Convention in Ibadan, setting November 10, 2025, for the hearing of the Motion on Notice. During Monday’s session, after considering submissions from both parties, Justice Akintola urged them to file and exchange necessary documents to facilitate a substantive hearing.

The claimant seeks an order restraining the defendants, including the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), from undertaking any actions that could disrupt the conduct of the party’s convention.

The court had earlier mandated the PDP leadership to adhere strictly to the guidelines and schedule previously issued for the convention. The denial of access to journalists during the proceedings has raised concerns regarding the transparency of the case and the level of tension surrounding the situation.
