Kunmi Mustapha, the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has publicly expressed his support for Governor Seyi Makinde as a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. In a statement issued in Ibadan to celebrate Makinde’s sixth anniversary in office, Mustapha highlighted the governor’s exceptional leadership and bravery.
He stated, “The current state of the main opposition party does not preclude the PDP from regaining power at the national level in 2027.” Mustapha praised Makinde’s significant contributions to the development of Oyo State and his broader impact on Nigeria.
Emphasizing the need for genuine leadership, Mustapha urged Nigerians to recognize politicians who prioritize public welfare over those who cause hardship. He commended Makinde for his visionary approach, likening him to the late Obafemi Awolowo in his commitment to the masses.
Mustapha noted the governor’s achievements in urban renewal, education, health, and infrastructure, as well as his efforts in promoting agricultural economy and supporting the welfare of workers and the elderly.
As Makinde’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Mustapha reaffirmed his loyalty and encouraged the governor to begin preparations for the upcoming election. He also acknowledged the efforts of PDP leaders in fostering party unity.
