The national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared that the order of the National Industrial Court directing workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to resume work will not break the ongoing strike.

The Congress also criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for allegedly threatening to sack striking workers less than two hours after the court delivered its ruling.

Earlier on Tuesday, the National Industrial Court in Abuja ordered the striking workers to suspend their action and return to work, despite their demands remaining unresolved, and adjourned the matter to March 25, 2026.

Reacting, the Acting General Secretary of the NLC, Mr Benson Upah, faulted the court for failing to address what he described as injustices against the workers, including the non-remittance of National Housing Fund (NHF) and pension deductions as required by law.

Upah insisted that the strike would not be weakened, urging workers to remain resolute, while placing institutions and individuals violating the Pension Reform Act and NHF Act on notice for “serious engagement.”

He further expressed concern over what he described as a hostile environment for dialogue, warning that the combined effect of the court’s ruling and threats of dismissal could worsen tensions between the FCTA and its workforce.
