Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to drive economic growth and reform Nigeria’s healthcare system.

He made this assertion during a courtesy visit by Mark Daniel Maloney, the Chair of the Trustees of Rotary International, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. Shettima highlighted President Tinubu’s revolutionary leadership and his determination to reposition Nigeria, stating that the country is poised for a significant economic recovery.

He also called on Rotary International to increase its efforts in addressing environmental challenges, such as desertification and deforestation, through initiatives like the Great Green Wall project. Additionally, Shettima emphasized the importance of investing in education, particularly in light of Nigeria’s youthful population. “Education is the ultimate game changer,” he said, urging that it provides the opportunity for all Nigerians, including the disadvantaged, to make an impact.

Mark Daniel Maloney praised Nigeria’s progress in healthcare, particularly its success in eradicating wild poliovirus, and reiterated the importance of continued partnerships with global organizations. He also commended the efforts of the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, which recently donated $5 million to the Rotary Foundation to combat maternal mortality in Nigeria.

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, also lauded the philanthropic contributions, which he said are pivotal in improving the health sector. Sir Emeka Offor, the founder of the Offor Foundation, affirmed his commitment to supporting government initiatives, particularly in making healthcare services accessible and affordable for all Nigerians.
