Halima Buhari, daughter of former President Muhammadu Buhari, stated that her father was aware of the public’s disappointment with his administration. She made these remarks at the presentation of a book authored by former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, titled “Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments That Defined an Administration.” The book launch coincided with what would have been Buhari’s 83rd birthday.

Halima stated that her father understood that many Nigerians who had placed immense hope in his leadership, particularly concerning security and economic recovery, felt let down by his performance in office. She described Buhari as a reserved man who listened more than he spoke and carried the weight of national concerns deeply.

Lai Mohammed said his book aimed to correct misconceptions, provide context, and share firsthand accounts of the Buhari administration. He noted that the book documents his work as Nigeria’s longest-serving Minister of Information and Culture.
