The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) has announced the suspension of its indefinite strike action after 30 days. The decision comes after the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, approved the doctors’ demands, which include better working conditions, enhanced welfare, and fair remuneration.

Dr. George Ebong, President of the ARD-FCTA, communicated this development to Governance today on Monday, stating that the strike, which began on November 1, 2025, has now been paused for four weeks. However, the doctors have warned they will not hesitate to resume their strike if the approved demands are not implemented within that timeframe.

The industrial action significantly disrupted medical services across the FCT, causing delays in patient care and understaffing challenges for remaining healthcare personnel. Dr. Ebong expressed cautious optimism, hoping that the government would follow through on its commitments.
