Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called on Abia State Governor Alex Otti to take a definitive stand and join the All Progressives Congress (APC). He assured Otti that he would receive full backing from Abia APC members if he decided to defect.
Kalu made these remarks during a town hall meeting at his residence in Bende, Abia State, where he addressed APC members and supporters. He stated that if Otti genuinely supports President Bola Tinubu, it would be prudent for him to officially declare for the APC.
“If you want to work for the President, join APC. The President will not leave APC and support non-APC members,” Kalu emphasized, urging Otti to stop “sitting on the fence.”
He also mentioned that he had not yet declared his intention to run for the 2027 Abia State governorship election, as he is still in the process of consulting with APC leadership and awaiting a clear signal.
Kalu expressed his frustrations over daily insults he reportedly receives from hired social media agents in Abia, claiming his empowerment programs were being misunderstood as a campaign for governorship ambitions.
He asserted that the grassroots structures he is establishing throughout Abia State would help secure victory for both President Tinubu and the APC in the upcoming elections.
