INEC Declares Soludo Winner of Anambra Governorship Poll

Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has been declared the winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on November 8, 2025. The announcement was made by the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Edoba Omoregie.

Soludo secured a total of 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came in third with 37,753 votes.

A total of 16 candidates participated in the election, with the state having 2,788,864 registered voters. Of these, 598,229 were accredited, and 595,298 votes were cast. There were 11,244 rejected votes across the 21 local government areas.

Soludo won in all 21 local government areas, marking a significant victory. Prof. Omoregie noted that while there were some voting incidents leading to cancellations in specific wards, these did not affect the overall outcome due to the substantial margin of victory.

Prof. Omoregie concluded the announcement by affirming that the election was conducted peacefully and in accordance with the law, declaring Soludo duly elected.
