Former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa has stated that he is departing the Nigerian military with a “clear conscience,” emphasizing his dedication to serving the country. Musa made these remarks during his pull-out parade in Abuja, where he was succeeded by General Olufemi Oluyede.

Reflecting on his years of service, Musa expressed pride in his contributions, stating, “As I hang my uniform today, I do so with a clear conscience, knowing that I gave it my all.” He shared fond memories of camaraderie and the collective achievements of the military, acknowledging the bonds formed during his tenure.

Musa thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as CDS and urged troops to support the newly appointed service chiefs, emphasizing the importance of unity in Nigeria’s security efforts. “I might be retiring from active military service today, but I’m by no means retiring from my love for our dear country, Nigeria,” he affirmed, underscoring his enduring loyalty to the nation’s constitution and sovereignty.

He called on Nigerians to collaborate in addressing the country’s security challenges, stating, “There is no single institution that can win this war alone. We must synergize and fight together.” Musa urged the public to pray for the troops and security forces, reaffirming his belief in Nigeria’s potential for growth and development.

Last week, President Tinubu reshuffled the military leadership, appointing Oluyede as the new CDS and Waidi Shaibu as the Chief of Army Staff, among other changes. The Senate has confirmed these appointments, and the new service chiefs were decorated with their ranks by President Tinubu.
