The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has condemned the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held over the weekend in Ibadan, labeling it a “carnival of shame, lawlessness, and impunity.”
Despite multiple court orders to suspend the event, the PDP faction led by Governor Seyi Makinde proceeded with the convention, which aimed at electing new national executive committee members. APC Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare criticized the governor for creating hardships for residents during this “ill-fated show.”
Sadare alleged that commercial transport operators were coerced into attending the convention to fabricate a larger audience and create a false narrative of success. He condemned the PDP for its disregard for judicial authority and underscored the party’s history of impunity.
The APC also accused Governor Makinde of neglecting protesters over property demolitions related to the Ibadan Circular Road project, worsened by the removal of transport vehicles from major roads.
The opposition party further indicated that significant public funds were misused to fund the convention and warned that the financial impacts would be scrutinized. They described the event as the beginning of the end for the PDP and urged its factions to reconcile for future elections.
