Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, recently visited the Minawao Refugee Camp in Cameroon’s Far North region, announcing a substantial resettlement package of ₦500,000 for every Nigerian refugee willing to return home after fleeing Boko Haram violence.

Addressing thousands of displaced individuals, Zulum highlighted the significant improvements in security throughout Borno, particularly in the Gwoza area, thanks to enhanced military operations and community-led safety initiatives. He emphasized that the welfare of refugees, internally displaced persons, and returnees is a top priority for the state government.

The governor’s incentive aims to encourage safe returns, reinforcing the notion that as conditions improve, the state is prepared to support the resettlement of its citizens.
