Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has officially renamed the recently commissioned Shendam Road to honor the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. This decision was announced during a special prayer session held in Lafia to commemorate Buhari’s legacy.

The dual carriageway was inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu during his visit to Nasarawa last month. Governor Sule stated that renaming the road is a way to immortalize Buhari, who he described as having a deep connection to Nasarawa, considering it his second home after Katsina.

To provide legal backing for this change, Governor Sule mentioned that his administration would submit an Executive Bill to formally rename the road to “Muhammadu Buhari Way.” He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for showing significant respect during Buhari’s burial, noting the unprecedented support given to the former president’s family.

During the prayer session, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the first civilian governor of Nasarawa and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), praised Governor Sule for his initiative. He emphasized the importance of honoring Buhari through such memorials, highlighting the widespread appreciation for the late president among his admirers.
