Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has provided a grant of N50 million to Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani, the First Lady of Kaduna State, aimed at supporting 1,000 women petty traders in the region. Each beneficiary will receive N50,000 to help recapitalize their businesses.

The grant was presented during an event at the Umaru Yarádua Conference Centre and is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). In addition to the financial support, Senator Tinubu also launched the distribution of 10,000 Professional Kits, which include scrubs and Crocs, to midwives across several North-West states, including Kaduna.

The kits were donated by an anonymous global donor and aim to complement the federal government’s training program for healthcare workers. The First Lady emphasized the importance of providing the right tools to healthcare professionals, particularly midwives, to enhance their effectiveness in serving communities.

Governor Uba Sani praised the initiative, highlighting its significance in addressing maternal mortality rates and the need for adequate healthcare access in rural areas. He noted that the Kaduna State government is also focused on improving the welfare of nurses and midwives and upgrading primary healthcare centers throughout the state.
