A fire outbreak in the early hours of Tuesday gutted a one-storey commercial building housing computer and accessories dealers in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, destroying goods valued at millions of naira. The incident occurred on Somoye Osundairo Street and was reported shortly before 2:00 a.m., prompting an immediate emergency response.
Emergency officials said responders arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames, with thick smoke indicating intense combustion. The structure was largely used for storing and selling computers and accessories, and the high concentration of combustible materials was said to have fueled the rapid spread of the fire. Firefighting teams worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
Although no lives were lost, one firefighter sustained minor injuries during the operation and was treated on site. The entire upper floor of the building was completely destroyed, while the structure itself was partially compromised and will require a detailed safety assessment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities recommending a review of fire safety measures and storage practices across the area.
As the traders count their losses, the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of safety, preparedness, and accountability. In moments like this, many are reminded that human effort must be matched with wisdom, vigilance, and prayer, trusting God for protection, restoration, and strength for all those affected.
