Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has reignited his feud with former President Olusegun Obasanjo following a controversial SMS he sent to thank Obasanjo for attending his 65th birthday celebration.

Obasanjo characterized Fayose’s message as a “thank-you note” that was “uncomplimentary,” acknowledging the disparaging tone and responding with, “Ayo, thanks for your ‘Thank You’ message.”

In a statement made available to journalists by Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the former President described Fayose as “unchanged and unchangeable.” He indicated that he returned Fayose’s monetary gift through an intermediary, stating, “Your money has been sent back… unopened by me.”

Fayose’s initial message to Obasanjo criticized the former president’s comments during the birthday celebration, suggesting that Obasanjo might be suffering from dementia. He stated, “Your coming to my birthday party, I appreciate except for your very irresponsible comments at your age.”

He highlighted that he refrained from responding during the event to demonstrate the difference between “a sane and a mad man.” Fayose concluded by requesting the return of his money, asserting that “your leopard will never change his skin.”
