The Edo State Local Government Service Commission has directed all Heads of Local Government Administration across the 18 local government councils to take a compulsory 30-day leave. This decision was announced by Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, the commission’s chairman, during a press briefing.

The affected officials are required to hand over their responsibilities to the Directors of Administrative and General Services in their respective councils. This leave is intended to allow for a thorough assessment of administrative operations at the local government level.

Adjoto stated that the measure will facilitate an objective review of postings, staff deployment, and record management practices, promoting transparency and restoring confidence in the local government system. He emphasized that this initiative is part of the commission’s reform agenda, based on feedback from their recent visits to the councils.

During the leave period, the Directors of Administrative and General Services will oversee daily operations until further directives are issued. The commission aims to reposition the local government workforce to ensure effective delivery of democratic dividends to the grassroots.
