Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa has urged those trying to create divisions between him and Governor Monday Okpebholo to focus on matters that will enhance the governor’s SHINE Agenda.

Idahosa, a former member of the House of Representatives, stated that any efforts to undermine his relationship with Okpebholo “are doomed to fail.” In a statement released on Friday in Benin, he labeled the individuals behind the alleged plot as “distractors” who are resentful of the practical governance being exhibited by the current administration.

He declared his steadfast support for the governor amid online smear campaigns directed against the government and its officials. Idahosa asserted, “It has come to my attention that certain individuals, unsettled by the unity between my boss, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and myself, have resorted to creating false narratives online to sow discord.”

He emphasized that as long as he and Okpebholo remain united, attempts to divide them will be unsuccessful. Idahosa reaffirmed his loyalty, stating, “I stand solidly behind my boss like the Rock of Gibraltar.”

The deputy governor stressed that the Okpebholo-led administration is committed to fulfilling its campaign promises and encouraged residents to remain supportive of the government. Recent public scrutiny has focused on the relationship between the governor and deputy governor, especially with the approach of the 2027 general elections.

Since taking office in November 2024, Okpebholo and Idahosa have consistently appeared together at official events, asserting their unity as they advance their SHINE Agenda, aimed at improving security, health, infrastructure, nourishment, and education in Edo State.
