Former Senate President David Mark has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, blaming worsening internal crises and persistent leadership conflicts. In a letter addressed to the PDP chairman in his Otukpo Ward, Benue State, Mark described the party as a shadow of its former self, plagued by unresolved divisions that have undermined its public image.
He recalled his longstanding loyalty to the PDP, especially during its post-2015 challenges, and said he remained committed even when others left. However, he noted that recent developments had pushed the party into deeper disarray.
Following consultations with his family and political allies, Mark announced his decision to join the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement. He said the coalition aims to salvage Nigeria’s democracy and restore national direction.
It was also revealed that Mark has been appointed interim National Chairman of the soon-to-be-launched coalition platform, with former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola named as interim National Secretary.
