Kogi Central constituents have expressed their discontent with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following a recent court injunction that restrains the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from processing her recall petition. They view this legal move as an acknowledgment of her precarious position and a sign of desperation.

The constituents, representing the five local government areas within the Senatorial District, criticized Akpoti-Uduaghan for her claims that the recall signatures were fictitious. They argued that such matters should be left to INEC to verify during its processes. A statement released by the Kogi Central Renaissance Assembly highlighted their determination to proceed with the recall, asserting that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions are an attempt to evade accountability.

They stated, “This is last-minute desperation to save yourself the embarrassment of a recall. But we, Constituents of Kogi Central, insist that you have already embarrassed both yourself and the District, and home you shall come.”

The statement underscored their commitment to integrity and the importance of following through with the recall process. They emphasized that they will not tolerate actions seen as detrimental to the image of Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.

A Federal High Court in Lokoja had granted the injunction on the same day, preventing INEC from acting on any petitions regarding the recall, which Akpoti-Uduaghan described as containing “fictitious signatures.” The constituents remain resolute in their stance to see the recall process completed.
