The Managing Director of Laralek Ultimate Construction Company, Olalekan Adebiyi, has refuted media claims about leakage issues in the roof of the National Assembly’s White House section following heavy rain on Friday. An online platform reported that the renovation work done by Laralek’s subsidiary, Visible Construction Company, was inadequate, leading to leaks during the downpour.
Adebiyi dismissed the allegations as unfounded, suggesting they stem from envy. He asserted that an investigation by his team found no evidence of roof leakage; instead, the water ingress was due to smaller windows in the upper part of the chamber, not the roof itself.
He stated, “If it were Julius Berger that carried out the renovation work, no such fake report would be written against it.” Adebiyi emphasized that the materials used, including watertight Amothene imported from the U.S., ensure the roof’s integrity.
An on-site assessment by a correspondent revealed no visible signs of leakage or pooling water at the National Assembly complex. Adebiyi remains confident that the quality of their work will be vindicated as more rain falls in the coming weeks.
