Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has advised Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to reconcile with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, rather than engage in ongoing political confrontations. In an interview with ARISE NEWS, Fayose emphasized the importance of humility and reconciliation in governance, especially amid the political instability in Rivers State driven by the power struggle between Fubara and Wike.

Fayose pointed out that all governors, including Fubara, derive their strength from others and noted, “Even if Wike is saying he is the leader, it is not to Fubara to contest that. We all know the truth.” He urged Fubara to prioritize peace, stating, “I’m begging you, go and make amends and be at peace.”

He also warned against the implications of challenging Wike’s authority and stressed the difference between holding office and the title of “001” in Rivers politics. Fayose reflected on the importance of political mentorship and learning from past political experiences, highlighting that being impeached could end a political career.

As Rivers State Assembly has initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara for alleged gross misconduct, the situation underscores the urgency for reconciliation and political stability in the state.
